My Apple Maps voice navigation died, how can I get it working again?

Apple Maps voice navigation died

I am using an iPad Air wifi only coupled to my iPhone's hotspot. Navigation worked 100% and I received voice prompts, until one day when it simply stopped. The navigation is still working, but I receive the navigation tips on screen rather than by voice prompts.

I have checked all the setting and all seems in order. My Maps app does not have a feature to adjust or enable voice prompts or volume.

Go to Settings - Maps and then under "Navigation Voice Volume", select "low", "Normal" or "Loud" volume.
