Hi I am having huge issues with my iohone 4s since yesterday. All of a sudden my phone goes from full signal into "searching.." then back, it happens every 10 seconds. It will not establish a connection, keeps doing this over and over. Ive restored, reset network, toggled airplane, hard reset, deleted wifi settings.. Anything you can imagine, still nothing works!

Finally if I turn of cellular data I get full bars again and I'm good but no internet or imessage no 3g and with the new phone once you turn of cellular data it will not kick over to 2g edge.

Anyone having these isssues, I did a quick search on the apple forums and it seems to be pretty widespread!!!!!

Any help?

yes I know but that is the only way I can even make a phone call. If I keep the data on I get the searching.. signal.. searching.. signal. Just keeps doing that the signal lasts maybe 5-10 seconds, thats it!

This is crazy, Iv'e tried everything. I am seeing peopel going and getting new phones and still having these issues. I cant even send texts anymore, i guess they use the 3g network.

Im wondering if I restore from an old date maybe early october, it will 5.0? Or will it still stay with the new update?

iphone 4s constantly searching for signal

hey guys, I've gotten a warranty exchange from apple because my 4s with ATT just randomly started to search for a signal every 10 seconds. I tried everything, got a new sim car, reset it, restored it, THAT worked for about a week and then it went back to the 10 sec searching. I performed another restore and it was good for about a day. After I replaced the phone last week, this new replacement 4s is doing THE EXACT SAME THING...

so, I believe it is a software issue with the computer it may be synced or backed up from. I use an iMac from 2009 and still have yet to update it to lion.

I restored my 4s from a PC and got my contacts from the cloud, I'll be using it to see if it does the problem again because at the moment it's fine and dandy. I'll repost and let you guys know what happens in 7 days...good luck to you all

Well, I am on my 6th phone and 9th SIM. Almost all of mine did that. It's more than just the phone, there's something somewhere on ATT's side too. I spent 2 months working with engineers on this, and only this last one has solved the majority of the issues.

I do not have Lion on my mac, or Snow Leopard, nor do I restore from any backups. I do "new phone" every time.

It's you. Your body is attenuates the signal too much. Please return your body at your earliest convenience. 70% of our construction group, 99% of the IT staff and others in the office have iPhones 4 and 4S' and NOT ONE of them has this issue. It doesn't matter if it's sprint, american telephone and telegraph or verizon. Not one has the issue.

I have Verizon and yesterday I was having the problem of losing 3G and getting the circle. I sit two feet from a window at work and I've always gotten great service. Today, I'm fine.

If your WSP is installing 4G in your area, then they might take towers offline to install 4G. I had an awful signal at home for a few weeks and after a phone call to Verizon, it was because a few towers were down while they were upgraded to 4G. :)

update:

I have made major updates on my iMac all the way to Lion. previously, my warranty replacement iPhone 4s on ATT did the same "searching" nonsense as the one I sent back. a specialist with applecare mentioned my iTunes software on my computer could be corrupted and when restoring an iPhone could get the same result blah blah I thought it was all crap but I'm actually testing that theory right now. I restored my current phone on a PC and have waited a full week to see if the "searching" appears. It has not, and now with lion I am restoring the iPhone back to my mac...

Update

It has been definitely longer than a week since I restored my constant "searching" iPhone 4s to my mac. Apple replaced my first 4s because of the searching issue and when I restored my existing info to the replacement I ran in to the same issue. I had a feeling it was my computer's software, definitely not up to date. I updated it to Lion and have not ran into the searching issue. I hope this helps for anybody else.

I'd like to know how updating your computer itself correlates to how your phone operates? Your computer doesn't operate the radios on your phone. It doesn't control how your phone operates. It's just a hub to sync things and nothing else. I think it's more of a placebo, but at least answer me why you think it has something to do with it.

Either way, it got the job done..........
