microphone on iphone 4 having problems

so my microphone seems to be on the fritz. when I record movies, or use the speaker phone the microphone doesnt pick up any sound on my end. its just a lot of static and thats it. but the phone works fine when im not on speakerphone, and when i use the voice recorder it records fine. so i dont think its a hardware issue, but i tried resetting and problem was NOT fixed. any suggestions?'

Silly question, but how are you guys holding your phones, in anyway are you blocking any speakers or mics???? I know with my big hands, I accidentally cover it up sometimes. Just a though

Thinking they would have thought about that in the first place. Apple is great for design and thinks about a lot of stuff like this. Then again, maybe no one got to test it after it got left in the bar
