Memory Storage

I

iMore Question

I'm unsure which iPad memory option is best for me. I'd really like to save the $150 if I can but I don't want to have the device 2 years down the road and have a need for extra storage. I have an iPhone 6 and I use about 8.8 gb and have 2.2 available. Will my usage in the iPad be that much greater? Do apps require more memory? I also foresee myself using the iPad to replace my laptop, though I don't use my laptop for much more than surfing, streaming, or small word documents like resumes and cover letters.

If you plan to use your iPad to replace your laptop then I suggest you ante up the extra money for the additional storage space. There may be times when you need to store files on the device, especially when you don't have Internet access to save to the cloud. Still, that's just my opinion. You have to decide for yourself what is best. Good luck with your decision.

You may not do anything different. But with only 2.2 gb available now, you'll need to either start managing your space using cloud based apps and such or get more storage space. If you can't afford the extra space, you'll eventually have to delete stuff and use cloud apps like Box and Dropbox.

I bought a 16GB iPad2 last year, and that was a big mistake. Get the extra storage, you'll be glad you did.
