Mark iMessage as Unread?

How does Apple not have an "mark as unread" option? That's the dumbest thing on the planet. I'm so tired of sending myself friggen text messages so I remember to respond to someone. Come on Apple. So simple to do, and EVERYONE wants this done.

Be careful making broad, sweeping statements like "EVERYONE" :) I don't want it done, and didn't think of it until I read it here one time. It's not like we get posts about this repeatedly.

Would it be nice? Probably. But it's not something that I've ever had, even before I got the first iPhone so not something I feel is missing or dumb. There's lots of other stuff, to me, that is bigger and dumber than something like that but it's all perspective I guess.

A reminder or even not reading the message to begin with (just seeing the preview) can help. I do prefer reminders though because I can check them off ;)

In the end, if you feel as strong about this as it seems, I would send a nicely worded feature request to Apple using the form on their website. Never know... Someone may wonder why they didn't think of it and somehow get it implemented! Here's the form:

This is a horrible option. Why would anyone want people to know if they read the text you sent them? The only people I know who use that option, do it because they don't know they are doing that. And it's horrible because I see people "read" my text and they don't answer. Now they are jerks... No one wants people to know they read their text. Ever.
Actually, you are incorrect. One user posted here that she uses it with her husband so that if she sends him a message to pick up the kids, she will be able to know that he has read it even if he hasn't had the opportunity to respond.

Seems like a whole lot of anger over a minor thing. And no, EVERYONE does not want this done.

My wife and I just switched from BlackBerry Z30s to a 6S and 6S Plus. Inside the BB10 hub you can mark any message/notification as read/unread with a click of an icon. I can't seem to figure out how to mark a message as unread inside the Messages app. I can see how to mark Messages as read, or emails as read/unread but not how to mark Messages as UNread.

The reason it matters is that my wife will get text messages from clients, and she often-times has to do some research before getting back to them. She would prefer to mark messages that she still needs to follow up on as unread.

Thanks to anyone with some good information.

Maybe not the most elegant answer, but a bit less combersome. I too can't believe there's no "mark as unread". I am in the same boat with clients. I recommend asking Siri to "remind me of this" and it will create a reminder that will link you right back to your iMessage. You can even say "remind me of this at 1pm". That's the easiest way for me to stay on track.

I'm so disappointed that there is still no option to mark imessages as unread.

And I just found this on change.org

https://www.change.org/p/apple-inc-please-apple-stop-this-nonsense-let-us-mark-imessages-as-unread

I hope they will hear what's up!

Jeff

I get a blue dot for Unread messages in threads I have open. That's good enough for me.
