Perhaps discontinued this year?

The 5th gen iPod touch is getting iOS 8 so either this is the last update or the their is a new iPod touch coming.

The 5th gen was released in 2012.
I think between the iPad mini and the 5c apple has their bases covered.

I don't think there is going to be a sixth generation iPod touch.
