I would be very surprised if Apple did. But that is only a guess on my part as only Apple knows for sure and they are pretty tight lipped about those kind of things.

What? You would prefer that over a MagSafe which is 1. Magnetic 2. Has an LED light to show that it has charged 3. If you trip over the wire the MacBook won't come falling over the table and 4. Comes with an extension cable

I can see apple condensing the ports in the MBP and use the USB-C as the way to charge the computer. In the end, though I like the magsafe setup as it has saved my computer a number of times.

Yeah, I bought an iMac last November and my SP3 is doing well enough for my portable needs.

Yes, if you're constantly tripping over your cable you should take steps to make it stop. I rarely trip over my cable but it's nice to know it will easily come unplugged if I do.

I just got the MacPro 2015 and I like the MagSafe. I don't trip over the cable because I am really careful where I have it. But you can't never say never. LOL I have two cats who think a cable is their play toy and I do have to be mindful of them.
