Macbook Pro or Air for graphic design?

Hi, I'm studying communication design at Politecnico di Milano, it's my first year so I need to buy a laptop and, as the teachers recommended it, I'm going to buy a Macbook. The question is, should I buy a Macbook Pro or Air? The fact is that I think a Pro would be better for a graphic designer as it is recommended by teachers and as all of them uses this model, but my father says that buying a Macbook Air would be the same. I'm not very sure about it so I'm asking for your advise.

If graphics are critical to you, then the MacBook Pro Retina model would probably be the one to go for. The Retina Pro has a much better display than the non-retina Pro or Air.

For graphic design, the screen on the Pro is much better.
