I'm going to make a pitch for a refurbished M1 Pro MacBook Pro 14. The base unit (8c/14c, 16gb, 1tb) is available on the Apple refurb site for $1689. This gets you a superior (if smaller) 14.2" miniLED screen, faster performance, more ports (HDMI and SD card), dual external monitor support, and 120hz pro motion, for $210 less.
