this is a concern, I love the Mac(book) and want it to continue & florish.
Could it be they reached a price level that can no longer be justified by many users?
Yes Windows and Windows PCs are 'worse' then Macs (imho), but maybe not 'worse' enough to justify the premium pricing of the Macs?
I mean, the M2 Air, upgrade it a little and you are at $2k, come on.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this.

Between cost of living increases and the general stagnation of computing performance, I believe that most people have computers that meet their needs, and that can’t justify buying a new one above paying, let’s say, for a nice vacation.
