The irony for me right now is that although I'm already downloading, my hunch is that everyone else here may get to install it earlier than I do.

According to App Store, download should be done in 5+ hours.

My iMac is on 10.11.5; is it safe to skip 10.11.6 and go straight to macOS Sierra?

I would guess all security updates and patches from 10.11 have been incorporated into macOS Sierra, but would like to confirm that!

Received it September 8th with the GM of iOS 10. The OS is smooth and great. I've never ever gone through tutorials or looked over How To Guides but OS Sierra is worth doing some homework. Is an exceptionally feature rich OS.

Don't install if you game on your Mac and use Razer Gaming peripherals, unless you can Boot Camp into Windows to avoid the brokenness.

I downloaded from here and it seems to have installed fine on my mid-2011 Air 11". With a couple of caveats -

About this Mac acknowledges it is indeed running macOS Sierra, though Storage takes some time in sorting out the graphic interpretation of the Mac Drive - and revisiting the App Store, the installation does not show up in 'Purchased' or 'Updates'(as installed). No idea why.

Interesting. I downloaded on Sept 8th through Apple Offer when I received the GM for iOS 10. So it's supposedly been on my MacBook Air 2015 for 2 weeks now. Under About this Mac it said Mac OS Sierra this whole time.

Today in the App Store it showed available for download? Out of curious I hit download. It began downloading 4.77GB I believe and then started installing. I had to leave with about 28 mins left to the install. I'm curious what I'll go home to...
