When I made calls the LTE use to drop to 4g. Now when making calls the LTE icon stays on. Can someone explain? ATT St Louis area.

Could be VoLTE. I'm on AT&T also but phone drops to 4g when making calls and I'm also in St. Louis

I know on T-Mobile if there's heavy network congestion you're sometimes kicked from LTE to 4G for data. Maybe the same thing happens for VoLTE.

As far as I know, AT&T offers VoLTE in the Atlanta area. What you are noticing, now that the service is available and you have a compatible phone, is that you are connecting to the LTE network to make HD calls.

Yes. It's just something different that I started noticing. That's all. Something new. Didnt know if any else has noticed this.
