Lost access to Exchange and contact list is locked in the iPhone

I want to recover (extract) the Exchange contacts that are on the iPhone or extract it from an iTunes backup. The Exchange contacts are stuck on the phone because the Exchange account was cancelled.

i tried Wondershare Dr.fone
but was told by their CS reps they don't do that! any ideas

Were you using the native iOS mail app with your Exchange account? If you were then the contacts will be on the device and available to use.

Were you using Outlook (or another 3rd party app) with the Exchange account? You should still be able to open the app and get contacts, just not send or receive emails.

If the Exchange account was a former employer and you no longer work there, then there's really nothing we can do for you since legally those contacts would belong to that employer.
