Hey everyone, I'm new to the iPad and i seem to be having issues with location services. I have the new iPad 16gb wifi only version. My apps seem to locate me in Oklahoma or say unable to locate or service unavailable. I am using the wifi hotspot on my galaxy nexus on Verizon due to no home Internet available. Any suggestions or advice? Thanks

Disconnect from your hotspot, connect the iPad to a Wi-Fi network, pull up the maps app on your iPad, hit the locate button at the bottom and see if the location is accurate.

Wifi iPads do not have their own internal GPS - they will locate you based on a database of iP addresses that have been tied to physical address. And if your Galaxy Nexus is confused on where it is due to the A-GPS it may be using, that will give you false location on the iPad.

If you want a wifi iPad to give accurate location info - it needs its own GPS receiver - either a bluetooth GPS puck, or a device that plugs into the charging port on the iPad - like the BadElf.
