Live Photos and Sharing/Social Media?

Hey guys,

Live Photos are pretty fun, but how extensive is the ability to share them so far? If you post a photo to Facebook, I assume it will post the still photo (would be cool to scroll through my news feed and see the photos moving). Same goes for Instagram.

So far, can Live Photos only be shared from iPhone to iPhone via iMessage? And can they only be viewed on an iPhone?

Gonna be cool to see where this new feature ends up!

They can only be shared via iMessage, iCloud Photo Library, or AirDrop. You need iOS 9 or El Capitan to view them.

That's what I thought.

Any plans to spread the feature? I'm sure Facebook and Instagram at lease should jump on it soon. (Especially with fb adding 'video' profile photos and instagram's already including 3D Touch in their app)

Facebook and Instagram are supposedly going to be supporting Live Photos by the end of the year. I'm sure Apple would love it if they were everywhere. I think it has the potential to really take off once they're on Facebook and Instagram.
