Listening to music from an iPhone 7 Plus

For the first time, since I bought my device, I tried the lightening port adapter to use my headphones to listen to music (music on the iPhone).

Normally (on my old iPhone 6s Plus), the volume is on about 4 bars, and I could hear it just fine. With this phone and adapter (default in the box), the volume is almost MAX, and the quality is awful.

Is there a reset of sorts I need to perform, or am I simply missing something?
Thanks

I'm still with a 6s Plus. You might try adjusting the EQ in settlngs > Music. I haven't heard anyone else mention that issue.

...thanks. I did try that earlier, set it from none to Hip-Hop. I'll restart the device to see if that makes a difference.

If you've got another set of headphones maybe try those as well to isolate the cause. Possibly an issue with the headphones or the adaptor.
