Jut bought Iphone 2.2.1

Hi guys, I just purchased an Iphone 3G which already comes with version 2.2.1 and firmware 02.30.03

can i still jailbreak if i intend to unlock in the future?

You can jailbreak it with no issue, you can not unlock it though since it has a baseband that is currently not unlock-able.

Is there any way around it? I heard that you can do it with version 3 (jailbreak and unlock.) But then again, i also read that ver 3 is still Beta and it's unadvisable. I'm a newbie to iphone. Can you explain to me what exactly does Jailbreak do?

Nope, no way around it. As for 3.0 and jailbreaking - I've heard rumors (no word from the dev team so it seems sketchy) but the last thing I'd want is 3.0 in it's beta form jailbroken.

i wish there was a way to change it back to an older version. Too bad then.... sigh...

So what exactly does Jailbreak do for iphone? Sorry for all these newbie questions...

alright, i totally want to jailbreak my iphone. but the link that u gave was for 3.0 to 2.2.1 Mine is already 2.2.1(5H11) with firmware 02.30.03 . I guess i just have to wait till something comes up.... Thank you soooo much Bad Ash
