Jailbreaking is 100% reversible. The only change that greenpoison, the jailbreaking program, makes to the look is a change to the boot logo. But there are many easy to install free replacements on Cydia, the jailbreak apps store, if you don't like that logo.

The point of jailbreaking is to give you more freedom and control over the device. You can change as much or as little as you like. There's a ton of useful info here on tipb about jailbreaking and what to do afterward. I've jailbroken my phone my wife's phone and my son's iPod touch and its been smooth sailing each time.

Man...do I not miss those battery pulls. I was doing that 3 times a day on my Storm. As for the battery, it's actually very good. I know that if I went for a run and streamed music for an hour, the BB would drain 30% or more. When I do the same with the iPhone, it seems to lose about half that. I guess it depends how many apps you are running at the same time though.

And you had better hope WE never DO have to do anything like a battery pull.. Or were balls up.. ;)

Yes, using them both, they both seem to be of similar physical build quality. The iphone definitely is higher end materials. Actually, I'd bet the S2 would take a drop better than the iphone.
Yeah I guess the storm would stand up to more abuse, ill agree with that. but holding the two devices, the iPhone is just better quality in my eyes.

About jailbreaking from a complete jailbreaking noob:

I had ONE problem when doing my first jailbreak, and that was due to my impatience and silliness. I forgot to install iTunes on the computer at work that I was jailbreaking from. It does need iTunes on that computer even if you don't have attach it to your account. It needs a driver of all things for the "hardware mode".

Other than that, I've since jailbroken my iPad as well. The whole process takes roughly 5 minutes with on-screen instructions :p Compared to my co-worker "rooting" his Android phone (which took him 4 hours the first time and was extremely complicated), I felt like the process was rediculously easy.

A couple of their best jailbroken apps, I could not live without. Lockinfo (which gives a fabulous enhancement to the notification system), SBSettings (quick access to turn off functions on the phone, eg. 3g, wifi, etc), biteSMS (rediculously good SMS enhancement).. I could not live without them at this point.

It should also be noted, JB'ing does void your warranty with Apple/Verizon/AT&T if you are silly enough to send it back to them jailbroken, however, if you choose the awesome SquareTrade Warranty, they don't care one bit if it's jailbroken. I paid $81 introductory Verizon rate for my SquareTrade for 2 years, and I must say it put my mind at ease.

I promise you, if you jailbreak, you will NEVER be able to live without it. Even if you don't like themes. Themes, imo, were an afterthought for me. The functionality is what I was after, and the themes were just icing.

Hope this helps!

I am also coming over from a curve, storm1, and then a storm2. I must say this is the best phone I have had. The storms were pieces of crap, RIM tried to put together at the last moment to compete with the iphone. I won't go into detail but the storms were really the worst phones I have used. The build quality was cheap. The heptatic system on the storm went buggy 8 months after I bought to the point where typing an email or SMS was near impossible. BB OS is an antiquated OS. The Webkit on the iphone blows RIM's out of the water. I have no clue why RIM decided to only put such a limited amount of RAM on the phone. That decision pretty much guaranteed you would be battery pulling in a couple days when you take into account memory leaks. As far as the iphone I don't miss the blinking red light. Honestly, that stupid light got annoying. I also don't miss the 10 minute reboots following battery pulls. The calender notifications on the iphone work for me. I just set it to notify me at a set time before the event. I might be in the minority but I actually like the notifications on the iphone. Seeing how apple hired the pre's notification designer to work on the notification for iOS 5.0, i cannot wait to see what he comes up with.

Blackberry storms are not haptic feedback. You are clicking physical buttons. I will say my storm2 was perfect hardware wise and almost perfect software/os wise. I do agree that the blackberry os is crap compared to iOS and the web experience on the iPhone does blow bb out of the water.

I used BB for a few years. I miss the notifications and the led on BB. THATS ALL. As far as the over all experience in the past two months with the iphone 4 is WOW.I JB'd mine and installed Lockinfo on it that made me forget about the lack of notifications. Get the 32 gig for the diff in price I personally think it is worth it. I have the 16g and I am running out of space.

In the great words of Barney Stinson, the storm2 was perfectly bad. If I didn't donate my 8550 to good cause I would have taken a hammer to it and smashed it pieces. The 8550 was the biggest waste of money I have ever spent next to a stripper named Kaya.

I myself was an avid BlackBerry user and also And by the way, one huge difference between the iPhone and a BB is you won't have to do a battery pull every again. That alone is almost worth it.

I will agree about the battery pulls, this a welcome relief, but I still REALLY miss berry buzz having that visual notification for the three seperate email accounts and of course BB messenger.

I came from a Tour and let me tell you, it's night and day. I love absolutely everything about this phone. Some previous posters are misguided about some things though:

1) the iPhone hands down has the better email system. Images load lightning fast, the email is in the form the sender wanted you to see it as, and NO TRUNCATING. it also threads you emails, which is flipping nice.

2) iPhones most certainly can send attachments in emails. I don't know where people are learning otherwise... Yes, the iPhone doesn't have a file manager, but that's because that isn't how the iPhone works. It treats everything like an app, so you just have to get an app to store the files. It's really simple, and I'll gladly help anyone with more questions on this. I've sent pics, documents, PDFs, and audio clips all in emails straight from my phone. It's definitely possible and very simple to do.

I personally prefer the iPhones calendar. I like that I can change around what calendar the event goes under, and that I can add calendars like Class, Work, and Deadlines asopposed to calendars by email. The Notifications are preferable to me as well. I check my phone habitually anyway, did with my BB too, and so I just never miss them. It's also nice that when you get the popup, if you wanna reply intakes you right to the message (no opening the inbox, etc) or you can hit cancel and no boubou light will be pestering you to read the thing.

I do miss BBM, but if the current rumor is true, we might see it soon in iOS...

I thought I was going to miss BBM, but then I stumbled upon multiplatform clients like Whatsapp and LiveProfile which allows me to do BBM-like msging.

I got the people I still wanted to BBM on Whatsapp so I don't miss BBM one bit

Blackberry is still the best with emails.
People seem to love to parrot that but I don't agree with it. Email on any BB is push-and-reconcile -- even on BES, which is what I used for years on my BB's. With ActiveSync I get true sync (on whatever device -- not just the iPhone). IMO that's significant and I'm sure that anyone that wondered how to get old email pushed to their BB would agree.

Also, anyone parroting that statement seems to be selectively forgetting RIM outages. I was lucky in that most of the outages seemed to be BIS outages that didn't affect BES but still...

Man...do I not miss those battery pulls. I was doing that 3 times a day on my Storm.
Never had such problems with my BB's but I wouldn't touch the Storms. That and my last BB (years ago) was an 8310.
