Hi,

my son had a second hand iphone 4 for Christmas which was jailbroken to version 5.something.

he decided to update it through the phone not iTunes and when it rebooted all we get is the apple logo or the plug into iTunes logo (restore mode I think)

I have tried the following
- iTunes shift restore and choose various files, some fail immediately some get half way and get stuck
- redsn0w seems to work ok and then I see loads of files on the iphone but then I get errors and it just sits there.
- sn0wbreeze seems to work ok but never creates the IPSW file on the desktop.

can anyone suggest anything else?

much appreciated

At this point I believe your only viable option is to put your phone in DFU mode and do a full restore. That will solve your problem. There is a Jailbreak for 7.0.4 so it can be re-jail broken after the update.

thanks for your response.

i have tried to do a restore through itunes with the phone in DFU mode or in restore mode and i get an error at the end of the extraction phase, i think its error 3914.

i have tried various IPSW files however i can't seem to get any to work.

any other ideas?

regards T
