2. Run Redsn0w 0.9.9b8.
3. Click "Jailbreak".
4. Turn off Your device.
5. Click ?Next".
6. Run Your device in DFU mode
(follow instructions on the screen).
7. DONE !

Follow these steps to turn on Your
device in Jailbreak mode:

1. Plug Your iDevice.
2. Run Redsn0w 0.9.9b8.
3. Click ?Extras", than ?Just Boot".
4. Turn off Your device.
5. Click ?Next".
6. Run Your device in DFU mode

Don't you need to show Redsnow the IPSW file before the just boot ?

caswellsam - yes, on 0.9.9b8 you definitely have to show redsn0w the IPSW before you JB 5.01 or it will fail.

i tried doing that with redsn0w 0.9.9b8 and it said that ispw is NOT supported with that version of redsn0w.......

you need to "Select IPSW" - 5.0, not 5.0.1

where can i find the 5.0 ipsw file? will this change my iphone back to 5.0 after jailbreaking? or does it simply trick the redsn0w program into thinking that your running 5.0 still instead 5.1.....

I did 5.0 today and you must point to the Ipsw file .. So for basically got to extra point to Ipsw 5.0 and then jailbreak ... Then do the same and then boot tethered
