I seemed to have had this issue early on, but for whatever reason it has simply not happened in a long time. I figure I still have the issue, but have just been fortunate or maybe I am holding it the right way. LOL

I am glad they did the security fix, but this proximity this pisses folks off and it should have been rolled into this 4.02 update.

have you guys checked to make sure that the prox sensor is actually in like, on your ear and not in a gap of your ear? i dont have a problem with it but i was having issues with it today and realized it was because i had the phone in a wierd spot.

Are you guys using your phones in a case or naked? My 3G has now gone to my GF and she started having problems where the screen wouldn't come on when she moved the phone from her face to hang up. I figured out it was the case, it was a leather knock off 3rd party case. I bent the leather part that went around the top of the phone and surely the phone started acting better. I swapped the case and the probs were gone.

In the meantime, to prevent this from happening, just press the Home button when you're on a call then you won't have to worry about it muting the call or activating any of the other buttons on the call screen.

I don't know what you guys are doing, but my phone barely touches my face when I'm talking lol. The only contact point is at my ear. I have the sensor issue, but it's not really an issue.

I'm imagining people with their phones smooshed into their cheeks...

This is a very random issue for me. Some calls I have no issue at all. And other calls, I can't talk without putting somebody on speaker. Although this is a very annoying issue, if I found it to be that bad I'd simply jump to another phone.

The prox sensor is sensitive and slow to react. Simple twitches away from your face can cause it to turn the screen on and then it is slow to turn it back off allowing the face dialing or muting or whatever. My fiancee hung up on me once and muted me once. We got Apple to exchange her phone ( the Genius said it was worse than anything he'd seen ), but it has happened a few times since the exchange. We're holding out for 4.1 now.
