iTunes wants to restor, right after jailbreak.

Iv got an iPod Touch 3.1.2(i Believe) and iTunes 9.0.2.25.
I plugged my i pod in and jailbrok it with blackra1n, everything was fine, then i installed the categories app and it needed to reboot to complete the install so i rebooted and then i got the itunes and usb logo and iTunes wanted to restore.
and that wiped out my jailbreak.
I tried again and now im at the itunes and usb logo again.
Whats going on?
am i doing something wrong?

Oh i think i figured it out,
its because blackra1n is a 'tethered' jailbreaker.
am i right?

Blackra1n isn't tethered. Its your iPod which is tethered..
