It was bittersweet but the watch went back

So after a two week trial I finally decided that the Apple Watch wasn't for me...at least not yet. I really couldn't justify the cost with the current features. I'm hoping Watch OS 2 will provide devs with the ability to create more robust apps given they will have access to more of the watches abilities.

I may buy another one in the fall of that holds true, but for now we had to part ways. I really can't say that I miss it. Just wanted to share my experience...

A friend of mine came to the same conclusion after a week of using his watch. He said that if the Sport started at either $199 or $299, he could probably justify having a 1st gen watch. I can definitely respect that.

Yes! Yes, I do. . I made my Watch fit my needs and I am thoroughly please with it.

Yes. I like it as much as I thought I would. As an early adopter, I expected some things might not work as well as would a second or third generation device. Some things that don't work well now will be fixed or strengthened when watch OS2 is released this fall. And, knowing Apple, it will continue to be supported into the foreseeable future.

I struggled to find any other real uses except as a notification device. Everything else seemed better suited for my iPhone. What apps do you all use the most? How does it fit in your daily routine?

Messages, Weather Underground, Pay, Skype, Maps and the exercise apps are what I use on a regular basis, but not in the manner I use them on my iPhone. My Watch is an extension of my iPhone. It is impractical for 'me' to treat it as if it is a tiny iPhone or a replacement for my iPhone. It is a "watch", that also doubles as a fitness device, but is excellent for notification purposes, quick replies, making and receiving phone calls, providing directions and allowing for items to be purchased via Pay. It is exactly what I want it to be and nothing more. If you're expecting it to be more than it is, you will be disappointed.

I got the watch mainly for the notifications feature. Also, I just discovered an unusual (and maybe bizarre) use for the watch as a low cost observation camera. I now leave my phone in its dock on the middle level of my home, and I can roam throughout the house with just my watch, without missing any calls or messages. My house cat has a tendency to hurl herself at the windows repeatedly if any birds purchase on the balcony outside. So, I angled the dock so that the phone camera was pointed towards the windows and, if I'm in another part of the house and hear a crashing noise, I punch up the remote camera viewfinder on the watch and observe the activity. She will only stop if I enter the room and scold her. So, it's saved me a few trips as well as provided a few laughable moments on my tiny watch screen.

Yes I find the watch liberating. Not having to dig out my phone all day long is worth every penny I paid for it

Yeah I was a little hesitant to use it in water but it sounds like it's holding up based on everything I've read.

Sorry it didn't work for you but I'm enjoying my Watch enough to keep it.

I mostly use the activity apps and notifications. I don't typically keep my phone in my pocket. It's on a table or desk at home and in the office. I love that I can see who's calling, see texts and see FB notifications when I'm not next to my phone. I also keep my phone on vibrate 90% of the time and miss calls and texts because the phone isn't on my body. This fixed that.

The one app I use that most pleasantly surprised me is the timer for cooking. I added the timer complication to my watch screen and it's really helped to keep me from overcooking food on the grill. :yes:

Ha yeah I overcook noodles all the time. I'm still contemplating coming back to it when the new OS comes out and hopefully the apps improve. I loved taking calls on it but it's kinda weird if people are around.
