Issues with App Store

Exactly. It doesn’t show the updates at all unless you pull to refresh. I would like it to go back to how it used to be where it would say there was a new update without having to pull to refresh
Again - if you wait long enough, the App Store checks for updates and badges the icons. It does for me, on both iPhone 6s and iPad Mini 4 on iOS 11.2 (actually, I think the Mini is still on 11.1.3.)

It does on my iPad but not on my iPhone 8 Plus. I’m glad it works for you. I wish it worked for me. iPhone is on 11.2. I have yet to upgrade my iPad. I probably should though lol

Guys keep in mind that some apps require a manual update, and other apps will just auto update by themselves. For example, BlizCon Mobile and Supercuts both require me to manually tap the update button. GarageBand, Mint, and Dropbox will auto update by themselves. It just depends on the app, and I honestly don't know how to tell ahead of time which app is auto and which is manual unless I look and try to remember. All of the ones I just mentioned were recent.

How do you background refresh for the App Store? I’m getting frustrated at not knowing if I have updates

Settings > General > Background Refresh. If you didn't already know about this then chances are it's already set to refresh. Unless you disabled it and forgot hehe.

I have had four apps with updates today. None of which appeared until I dragged down to refresh my updates list. This is getting annoying

Take a screenshot of what apps have updated.
Give it 24 hours. Resist the urge to refresh.
Check again.

Are you on wifi most of the day?

I’m on wifi all day. Could that be what’s causing it? I’m just glad to know I’m not the only one experiencing this issue. First world problems lol

My iPad which isn’t on 11.2 isn’t having the same issues. It’s updates appear as a badge on my iPad. It’s only my iPhone that’s having this issue

So I took your advice but without doing the screen shot. I checked what apps were up to date yesterday morning. I left my phone on wifi and checked again this morning. I had several apps update themselves like it was supposed to, so I'd have to say since I updated to 11.2 it started working for me again OR maybe because I left my phone on wifi... Which is not something I normally do.

I'll have to stay on LTE only for a day or so and see if the app store still auto updates. I do have that option for the app store set for wifi/cellular updates.

iOS prioritizes WiFi over cellular.
It may very well be that the AppStore doesn’t check as often for updates over cellular as it would do on WiFi.

There is also a limit for the size of update for cellular data, right? The update can be no larger than 150 MB. These days, that should be most app updates (and, of course, one of the changes I don't like in iOS 11 is that the app store doesn't tell you how large the update is in the list of updates tab), but there may be a few that will be too large for cellular data.

Yes, this is true. But the size shouldn’t affect the actual updates showing up in the update section at given intervals.

And since I have unlimited cellular data, I don’t mind update sizes.

I am still having this issue. The ironic thing is my App Store on my iPad does tell me which apps need updating without having to refresh unlike my phone

Have you turned off automatic update or do you still have that setting on? I ran my phone for a week with automatic turned on, and no apps were ever updated, and I never saw a badge. That is, until I plugged my phone into my computer (which I rarely do) and then suddenly app updates happened.

Not sure why everyone keeps talking about auto updates. The OP isn't talking about that. He's not seeing updates on his phone, but sees them on his iPad.
OP, Updates don't necessarily happen at the same time on all devices. Either give them time to show, or pull down to refresh.

I mentioned it because the only time I can replicate the behavior is when I turn auto-update on, and it's not just the OP who sees this thread - I believe that there will be people who search for issues with updating apps on Google/wherever and be brought to this thread.
