Is upgrading to the 8 Plus useless?

I'm all about buying it outright...

It’s not a bad idea to simply acquire the phone via the finance option and then pay it off shortly thereafter...

I would have concerns over the massive battery drop from about 2900 mAh in the 7 Plus to about 2600 mAh in the 8 Plus. Maybe the A11 CPU is really that good, but increasing the weight of the phone by adding a glass back was a bad idea (I'm guessing they cut the battery size because that was the easiest way to drop weight and one of the heaviest parts of any phone). I'd rather have a huge battery than wireless charging.

And like others have said this seems like a good year to sit it out and see what Apple comes out with next near especially with the X line. Would they possibly add the under the screen fingerprint scanner next year or have they totally dropped that in favor of facial recognition? Personally I'd rather not have that many sensors on my phone being more things could malfunction and cease to work.
