Is this still a good computer?

Looking at a 2012 Macbook Pro. Would this still be a good computer?

This will be my first Mac. Primary uses will be for work, which include web browsing, email, text (Word, Excel, etc.), photo uploading to various work websites, and accounting via Quickbooks. Don't really do photo or video editing and no gaming.

Wanting a well made computer that will last.

2012 model
MacBook Pro 2.9GHz Dual-core Intel i7

13.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display, 1280-by-800 resolution
8GB (2 x 4GB) of 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM
750GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD?R DL/DVD?RW/CD-RW)
Intel HD Graphics 4000

The retina screens are beautiful.
Better CPU and GPU. But the 2012 one has plenty for your uses.
Better battery life if you will be using it on the road.

Thanks again!

I'm always worried about buying a little older tech, but the price seems very good for what you get. I'm the type of person who holds on to computers and I don't upgrade every 2-3 years like some, so I'm looking for something that will last.

It's ok. Not great but not bad. Whether it'll last a long time depends. There's a reason why many get warranties with laptops. You should probably mention the price as that plays into it.

It won't hold up on super graphical intensive games these days, but in other respects it still runs most tasks well, although overloading it wouldn't be the greatest of ideas.

That's also a model that allows user upgrades to hardware really easily. So if it starts to feel slow a couple of years in the future, upping the RAM to 16GB and the hard drive to an SSD is something that's easy to do yourself.
