I want to use Family Sharing so my family can share music and apps without having to waste money by buying them on separate accounts or swapping IDs/passwords. However, we don't want to have a family photo album or a shared calendar. Is there any way to set up Family Sharing and disable the calendar and photo album sharing?

You don't have to use the Family Calendar or the shared Family Album so that shouldn't be an issue.

You can set up more than one calendar. One for you and one for family.
