Is there another way to unlock my late 2011 MB pro without using a password?

I have found many apps and programs that use touch ID from my iPhone 6plus but require BT LE. Do I have any options other than upgrading my late 2011 MB Pro to a newer version supporting BT LE?

To answer the thread question, you can set your MBP to boot to the desktop without the use of a passcode. Simply de-select the "Disable Automatic Login" option in the Security & Privacy settings.

Have you tried MacID?
I have it on my Mid 2012 MacBook Air
Don know the BT requirement.
Check the App Store & developers web site for info.
