iPads work on wifi or cellular, there's no Ethernet port on them & the 9.7" Pro is no exception.

That's USB... Not Ethernet.

The problem in the past is that you didn't have a powered option to run certain USB devices like microphones. The new USB adapter now lets you do that.

Think you need to connect the USB to Ethernet adaptor to the Lightning to USB adaptor. You can then plug your iPad to an Ethernet jack and it should work.
