Is there an app that can help regulate an antique mantle clock?

I

iMore Question

I need an app to help regulate an antique mantle clock.

Specifically I need an app which can accurately measure the time elapsed between the TICK and the TOCK so that I can then make the correct adjustment. It would have to use the phones microphone for accuracy, NOT rely on me pressing or tapping the screen as that would allow for "human error" to be involved. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.....

An audio recording should work - just record a minute or so of the clock's sound... load the resulting audio file into any sound editing app - display the waveform - and you'll be able to determine the interval by zooming in and highlighting the interval and the time-length of the selection should be given.

Hi KCH50428, that sounds good. Unfortunately I'm over 60 and a bit of a technophobe so could you possibly tell me if I should be looking for an app for my Windows laptop to scrutinise the sound recording or can I do it on my iPhone or iPad. Thanks for helping, it's just a pity I'm not too smart when it comes to technology and need led through any process step by step. Best regards.Alan.
