Is there an alternative to iTunes?

I want to try an alternative to itunes

I am fed up with iTunes reorganising my playlists unasked (despite checking 'do not synch') and deleting many songs including stuff I bought from the store, unbelievably.
Vox looks okay but can I load playlists on to my iPod?

Far as I know, iTunes is the only way without jailbreaking...
