Welcome to iMore! The iPhone 6 makes decent photos. Do you have it zoomed up a bit? You can't change the resolution. There are camera apps that offer higher resolution for low light photos. Cortex Cam works ok. If you think it's not working properly, take it to the Genius Bar.
