Is the 2MP camera in the 3G really an issue?

I am still patiently waiting for my iPhone 3G and one of the things I hear from my friends all the time (Apple haters) is that the iPhone camera and bluetooth are useless.

I had a Samsung X820 which had a 2MP camera for 2 years and it served me well. The camera was always useful for capturing those drunken nights even though it was 'substandard'. I was wondering if people who have an iPhone 3G and have used the camera can comment on its quality and whether Ill be able to stand next to my mate with his Nokia N95 and make him cry in shame!

Those aren't too bad and Im sure they must look even better on the iPhone itself!

Works fine in bright, outdoor light with non-moving subjects. Anything else, and your results diminish. But it's probably the best lens they could fit in a device that thin when they spec'd it:
