Is the 2012 Mac mini compatible with 4k displays ?

I have a 2012 Mac mini that I use as my regular computer but I also have a gaming PC and I'm hoping to purchase a 4k monitor for gaming and general computing in December. However I have no Idea if the mac mini's thunderbolt port will be able to support a 4k monitor or 4k resolution. I'm pretty sure that the HDMI port I'm using with my current monitor won't support it.

I don't think it does. 4K requires at least thunderbolt 2, but I think that Mac mini only comes with a thunderbolt 1 port.
