Is it true that the Matte Black Iphone 7 plus is prone to paint chippings and early wear?

I really wanted jet black, but the lady at Verizon talked me into the matte black, saying the jet was a finger print magnet. I use a minimalist case, but no issues for me.

The Jet Black is a finger print magnet but it does have a better grip.
