Sorry if this has been asked but I want to make sure it's safe to update the iOS 8 to the newest version via OTA?

Re: Do I upgrade the iOS 8 software?

I updated to iOS 8.0.2 via OTA and I am problem free. I would say YES, it's safe to update OTA.

Been avoiding the update after the roll back of 8.0.1, but now my apps are not updating saying many require 8.0.1 or newer to update. Running out of choice.

I didn't get a chance to try iOS 8.0.1, but iOS 8.0.2 is working great for me. I took a chance with iOS 8.0.2, and didn't wait for the "war stories" that came with the iOS 8.0.1. Glad I updated. My 5s is running smooth and fast with lots of "new" features....SMILE

Yes, it is safe to update OTA, but like any other electronic device, sometimes things can get corrupted or you can have a bad download and therefore, before you do, create both an iCloud and an iTunes backup. If you have important photos, create a copy or upload them to your computer or to a cloud storage site just to be on the safe side...:)
