I have a photo I am adding a text box to and want to change the color of the text box. Is it possible to change the color of the text box on a photo from my IPad.

Welcome to iMore, Julie! I would do it using an app called Superimpose. But it might take you a while to figure out how. Register in and post a few times, then post the photo. I can do it for you.

I believe you are using Preview, the macOS handy dandy viewing tool with some decent editing functions.

The iPad does not has Preview, at least not with the editing tools. I use Pixelmator, which is like PhotoShop for iPad.


Scratch all of this. I figured something interesting out.

Short answer, no, with an interesting but:



I used that block character in Notes on a picture I imported to it and edited with Markup. That gave me a square background.

I added and enlarged the block characters as I needed them. Then I added my text, which is always without a background. The newest test will always be on top of the old text.

From there, you can export your picture with text to what ever you want.
