There is no specific cost for FaceTime. If you are using it only over wifi then it won't affect your cellular data costs either.

It is free over wifi or if you have unlimited data, don't worry about being charged. However, if you're charged by GB from your provider for data, it does cost.

My 3G is off(always) and the cellular data is on, from the day I bought my phone and I have not charger when I use the internet (always wifi)!!! When I try the facetime out of range of the wifi device, does not connect (message out put)

It won't connect if it can't connect to a data source. If you don't have your 3G on it likely won't connect over cellular data

I've only used a few times, but really didn't notice that much of a battery drain.

Will it be video or voice? For voice it shouldn't lose that much battery but a little more will be lost with video.
