Is bendgate issue still exists?

I

iMore Question

Hi, i want to the iPhone 6 plus. i just concern about the bend issue. its still out there? i didn't see any post about vend in the last few months.. so there are 2 options:
1. people stopped buying iPhone 6 plus
2. apple fixed the band issue
what is right?

I'm pretty sure people are still buying the 6+, & there was never an issue. A few people sat on their phones or wore clothes that USE to fit em while attempting to pocket the phone. Thats was caused the slight bend. Mine has no bends in it along with all the fellow imore folks. So long as u don't sit on it, or wear little girl pants u should be fine.

I also don't believe there was an issue. I've had mine since launch day & there are no bends in it. Wear & tear will also depend on individual use.

If you use common sense and understand that the iPhone 6 Plus is not indestructible then you'll have no issues in regard to it bending.

There are a few floating around, I'm sure...;)

Apple is still selling the iPhone 6 Plus, but at some point, sales will decrease; not because of anything negative but because after 6 or 7 months after launch, people will begin to await the arrival of the next iPhone.
2. apple fixed the band issue
what is right?
There was nothing for Apple to "fix". Some people needed to fix their behavior. For example: not put a gigantic iPhone 6 Plus made of aluminum in their back pockets and then forget that it's there before sitting on it.

I just traded in my 6 for a 6+, was I concerned? Yes a little bit I'm conscious enough to not put it in a position to where the 120-130lbs (or whatever it was) of pressure that it takes to bend the phone. Apple has a solid design, I think I read somewhere that it has a titanium strip in there to help prevent bending. Apple is not the problem, people not thinking is.

Bottom line, use your head and you will be fine.

Never was an issue of the magnitude that some tried to make it.

Don't put the phone in your back pocket and you will be fine.
While there were some genuine instances of phones bending, most of the reports came from clickbbait publications and were perpetuated by users of other platforms.
The bending is easily prevented. Don't sit on your phone.

There was never any such thing as "bendgate". There were a few attention seeking videos of people out there PURPOSELY bending their iPhones in hopes of making it look like Apple put out a faulty product. I don't even doubt that these people were paid by competitors to do so.
As for the people who supposedly bent their phones due to accidentally sitting on them. It all comes down to carelessness.

Yes, there are phones who are resilient to much more pressure than the iPhone 6+, but there are phones who are less resillient than iPhone 6+ and nobody complained about them.
A more concerning issue is the RAM in the 128GB phones. I read Apple used some company with RAM that is not so good and there were issues with iPhone 6+ with the 128GB modules.
However, this issue was fixed and newer phones are suppose to not have this issue.

I just had to take my iphone down to the apple store to get it replaced due to being warped, but it wasn't "Bent". I think it may have been due to being in extreme cold. who knows, but i got it replaced within a 30 minutes, so if you are worried about it and it DOES happen. Apple with replace it no questions asked.

Never was a bending issue.

This was just started by a form of internet marketing by a blogger (who was paid in my opinion) that tried to stretch out his 15 minutes of fame.

Any phone made of metal is still subject to the laws of physics, but this isn?t exactly a problem exclusive to the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus.
Samsung?s phones are dominated by plastic, but the metal-friendly Galaxy devices are prone to bending in pockets too. Other bending issues have been reported for the Sony Xperia Z1, the iPhone 5, the Lumia 925, the Blackberry Q10, the HTC Evo, the less known Oppo, and others, including the iPhone 4s. Moral of story is take care of your device. Putting it in your back pocket or tight fittin' jeans is risky. It's not a keychain. It's a wonderful device that costs hundreds of $$. Treat it accordingly.
