Ipod touch 5th generation new battery charge issue

Hi, i just replaced the battery in an ipod touch 5th generation but the issue i'm having is the battery level jumps when charging. If i charge the battery from like 20%, it will jump up to like 100% charged after only a minute on the charger. Then when i unplug it, the level will go down from 100% back to like 20% after using it for like 30 seconds. Something is not reading the battery level properly and causing it to fluctuate. Do you think i got a defective new battery or is it something else?

Did you select the “Reset All Settings” option after you had the new battery installed? If not, give it a try.

No, I didn’t do a reset. Never thought to do that for a battery replacement. I will try that thanks.
