Iphone won't power on normally

Hello,

My phone works a treat, except when you press the power button and put it to sleep. If you press the power button again it turns back on, unless it's been off for about 30 seconds or more. If this is the case it won't turn on unless it is either connected to a sync cable or receives a call/sms. When it is on the buttons all work a treat. The battery reads 100% and doesn't discharge any quicker than anyone elses.

It's a 2nd generation iphone that I bought with a broken lcd. I have replaced the screen and as part of that resoldered the battery that was cut away by the previous owner. It is unlocked, but running v 1.0.2 so a bit old.

Can anyone suggest anything ?

Cheers.

True, that's my next job. I assume it's not straight-forward with an unlocked iphone.

The problem I've got can't be due to the release so I figured I'd fix that first and then worry about how to upgrade after.
