Can I only take advantage of this program in a store? The closest stores to me are either Atlanta or Huntsville, AL (both 4-5 hours away).

Thanks.

I believe the only way is to go to an Apple store. Below is the key part as to why you need to go to the store. I believe it is to have your info verified and that can only be done in person.

Don't some carriers have similar programs too? I know that Sprint has/had a iPhone for life program.

Verizon is doing this too. I just went with an iphone and it says I can upgrade after just 50% paid off(instead of the normal 75%) which would be 1 yr.

I'm guessing it's a limitation on the bank's end. People apply for credit, open accounts, and finance purchases online all of the time. I'm hoping the in-store requirement goes away soon.

Yes and no. If you do this from a carrier, the phone does not come with Apple care+ nor does it come unlocked.
