iPhone upgrade price

Hi. I have bought the iPhone 3GS around Christmas and I want to upgrade to the new iPhone 4. Unfortunatly AT&T won't let me upgrade at the 299 price. Does anyone have a cheap way I can upgrade that won't make me pay 600 bucks for this great phone?

Early upgrade 16gb= $399 32gb=$499, thats what i did. Bought my 3gs at xmas also.

Yes I can see the price without the ability to upgrade but is there anyway I can get the iPhone cheaper?

Yes but I don't want to switch a number if I put a new line on is there anyway to cancel it and then put my old number on the phone?

How about just waiting till your eligeable? That would save you a lot of headaches and money and it only requires a little patience.

When I asked similar questions today I was told, You can add a line, then have the rep. switch the iPhone to your number, you should then be able to remove the data plan and all other unnecessary features making a simple second phone. You will be committed to that plan for two years. Unfortunately if you want to remove that new line you will have to pay an early term fee. I would recommend using an old non smart phone to terminate with, that might lower the early term fee. We need a math person to figure out what the cost would be in the long run.
