Could someone answer this question? I know it is probably old news. I recently bought a used 3G iPhone. It looks like it has been jailbroken. It has Cydia installed on the phone. I can download apps with Cydia. My version shows 3.0.1. The baseband (modem firmware) shows 05.11.07. Can this phone be unlocked to use with T-Mobile or do I have to wait for a new unlocking software to be created? Many people say "no", but other websites want to sell software they say is quarenteed to unlock any version. Thank you for any help..........

If you have 3.0.1 v then you can unlock it via redsn0w. Just go to Cydia type repo666.ultrasn0w.com. Make sure that "0" in your redsn0w is number zero not the letter o. Search ultrasn0w in Cydia then install ultrasnow. Reboot iPhone and you have an open lined iPhone.

Unlock???

I have been told that I cannot unlock my 3G iPhone as long as the base band is 5.11.07. They say to unlock the phone, the base band must be downgraded to 4.26.08. I can use Fuzzyband to do this but only if my boot loader is 5.08. I ran Fuzzyband and it said my boot loader is 5.09 and can't be downgraded at this time. Is this an old way to do the unlocking process? Is there something new that makes this process obsolete? In the previous post, did you mean to say use redsn0w or ultrasn0w for unlocking? The bottom line is, can an iPhone be unlocked with a base band of 5.11.07. I am new to this unlocking stuff, so sorry if I have confused anything. thanks for help..........

Unfortunately, 5.11.07 cannot be unlocked at this time.

It may never be available to be unlocked. Let's just hope that someone figures out a way.
