Do you really think 90% of people are satisfied with their treos? Maybe a few years ago (I, for one, used to be incredibly satisfied), but it's not like Palm has been keeping up with HTC and others on the innovation front as of late. And, by the same argument, how many satisfied Treo owners are satisfied only because they never tried an HTC or a Nokia?

It's fine to say "i tried the iphone, decided I prefer the treo, and here's why" but claiming you know better than the majority of iphone owners and implying, without evidence, that it's because you know more than they do (they never tried a treo!) is a little silly.

I'm sure lots of people are happy with their treos (heck, if palm had shown some sign of a future for palmos, i'd have held on and waited - but foleo and galdolf are not what i have in mind), just as many former treo owners are happy with their iphones.

What do you need a survey for? (considering most iphone users probably never used a treo that's capable of more..of course they're happy coming from a cheap candybar phone) This is coming from a treo user who bought an iphone for wife and took it back. She got bored with it and kept borrowing my Treo. For the first few days it was nifty, but again, once you get past the novelty of the iphone, it's just an ipod phone. The browser is too slow on the road but better than the Treo's..but again..too slow. So instead we bought her a treo. It's just easier and more enjoyable for her to use.

Since the OP is a treo user, i gave my opinion. Why do iphone users get so defensive?

I am an ex treo user, and I am not defensive. However, claiming that you get bored of a device that can hold thousands of songs, videos, movies, tv shows, and podcasts after a few days is a little crazy.

I think treos are a mixed bag. Some get good ones out of the box. Others get buggy ones.
This is so true. It's amazing that it's been an ongoing thing for as long as it has.

Iphones probably are probably more stable and definitely have the cool factor & a unique touch interface. Treos can simply do much more though and aren't as unstable as you might be led to believe. I've not had a reset in weeks.
I had my 650 to a point where it was very stable, but there still were issues with DBCache. Resets on a Treo are an inevitability, you just have to accept that, the same is true for WM. My iPhone OS hasn't crashed ever, and the crashing of an app doesnt require the phone to be reset, just open the app back up and away you go. I just find the iPhone far less frustrating than the Treo

Once you get past that pretty interface on the iphone in a week or so, you'll probably start to get bored and wonder where the cool games are
Games would be nice, but we'll see them eventually. Apple hasn't been working with EA this whole time just so they can put games on iPods.

why that treo user can watch tv (slingbox) on his
This feature, and just about every other really cool feature on the Treo, always seemed cluggie to me. It worked, usually, but it was an inelegant way of doing things.

why he can't tether to the net
Meh, the hackers have already got this working on the iPhone, but again it was never all that satisfying an experience on the Treo so unless i absolutely need this i cant see the point. I mean I already have a full blown web browser and email client on my iPhone. The reason most people were tethering was because browsing on the Treo, at any speed, was painful.

why it's such a slow connection (edge)
Everyone keeps saying this, but for those of us who never used a 3G network (GSM Palm Treo users) the Edge on the iPhone is fantastic. Not only is it faster than it was pre-iPhone, but the iPhone renders full pages faster than my 650 could render a mobile version. I find the speed (120kbps) to be more than usable for browsing and email. Even watching movie trailers on Apples website isnt too bad, though its nice to be able to jump on a wifi spot for this.

why you made a 2 yr contract on the most crappy network (cingular)
Here's another complaint I just don't get. I know Cingular doesn't do well in consumer reports and the such, but I've never had a signal issue with them at all. Granted, I've spent most of my time in major cities, but even in rural western NY and western PA i've never had issues.

But its all in what you want. If the features on the iphone are enough for you , then buy it.
And this is the point that most of the iPhone haters just refuse to get. Some people need a better browser than WM or POS can supply. Some people need better media management/playback and some people value style. For those people the iPhone is perfect. For the power user that is using their phone for business there are probably better options out there.

Yes, we're still lacking resident 3rd party apps, but frankly, there aren't any I miss badly enough to go back to Palm or WM - at this point.
True, but we better see these apps coming soon or some people won't stick with the iPhone. The only app i mis desperately is a password manager which, by the nature of the app, doesnt lend itself to being a web app.
