iPhone headphones don't work with iPad?

I tried using the apple headphones that came with my 3GS and they don't fit. What gives?

Mine work fine, but you have to make sure to push them in all the way.

Wow sorry guys I'm a idiot. I thought i had em in all the way. I'm used to them "clicking" in on the iPhone and iPod. This keyboard has a steep learning curve lol.
