I currently have and iPhone 5 (16 GB, At&t). I've been trying to hold out for the next version but it's getting harder to do.

I usually don't do the new every year thing, but am wondering now thinking about either getting the phone through Apple's Trade in program or At&t next.

This way i could buy the 7 now and trade it in later if i really feel that it's worth it to do so.....what do you think?

I think it's a great way to go. As long as you can afford to do it. You will find a huge difference going to the 7 from the 5. So much has changed performance and feature wise since the 5. Just my opinion. Please let us know what you decide on. Thanks.

It's a great phone and will be a huge upgrade from your iPhone 5. Should you want the iPhone 8 come fall you could use the Apple upgrade program as long as your not on a contract with your carrier.

Go ahead and get the 7 (or Plus if you can handle it). You will be happy with it for a long time and have the option to trade up when the 8 comes out. I'm personally going to hang on to the 7+ for a while if the $1k price rumor comes true.

@njgirl_toNC ,

I would without a doubt say get the iPhone 7 now 😃 The difference in performance from the 5 is yuge! (Bigger than huge) haha.

If you take really good care of it for the next couple months, you should get a really good trade in deal for the iPhone 7s (if you wanted) but I think you will be more than happy with the iPhone 7.

Now we just need to decide on what size and what colour. Let us know what you decide to do 😃

Thanks for the input folks!

I went ahead and ordered the iPhone 7! Since i'm aiming for an Apple Watch as well i decided that going for a 7+ is just being to greedy (i just got an ipad 9.7pro last year).
I can't wait to get it!
I went through Best Buy since there is $150 savings.
Color: Silver
Size: 256
Plan: At&t Next Every Year

YEAYYYYYYY!

Now I'm on the hunt for Cases and screen protection!

@njgirl_toNC,

Congratulations on your new purchase. The 256gb store should last you forever haha. So much space.

I personally don't use a screen protector but have heard good reviews about the 'Tech Armor ballistic glass'. It's only $5 😃 Maybe have a look at them? If things go wrong, they sometimes even send you a free one.

Usually the S versions have a unique feature (Siri, Touch ID, 3D Touch etc...) and if the 7S does it might be more compelling than the normal 7.

However in your case I think that living with a 5 still for even a moment longer and a 16gb at that if you can get a 7 now is way worse than being disappointed your 7 will not have whatever feature the 7S does.

If you do switch the 7 is going to blow you away with how good it is and even if the 7S does have a feature you'd like, just remember that your 7 is still as good as it was who you first bought it.

Edit: didn't see you got a 7. Congrats.

As for not springing for the 7+, just think that everything you're giving up by not having a plus you gain by the pocketability, and ease of one handed use with the 7.

The 7 is blazing fast so I don't think you will regret it. I'm keeping my seven for at least three years and I don't feel like it's going to be slow anytime soon, and I'm coming from a 5C.

I think it's a waste trading in every year, the differences in performance would be minimal imo

If you are coming from iPhone 5 then 7 will be a huge update for u and it is still the latest offering by Apple with all the latest specs and tech, although u might miss the headphone jack. But it totally worth you money..
