Iphone 6 Plus FB messenger split view

Hi, does anybody have issue with split view in facebook messenger in lanscape mode? I have the latest iOS and messenger version but split view (like in messages and mail inbox) doesnt work...

My friend has the same phone model, same iOS version and also the latest messenger update, and this is how his messenger is displayed in landscape:



Any ideas?

Don't really use it that much, but mine isn't showing a split screen. Are their any updates you may not have done.

we both have the same version, means the last update. So this is not that problem...

I am using the latest version (16.1) and it has landscape but not the split view.

Is one of the devices set to Zoomed rather than Standard mode? Also, does the double-arrow I see in that screencap do anything? I don't use Messenger, so I'm just shooting in the dark.

Both devices are set to Standard mode. We have identical setting in phones at all. Double arrow just makes chat window bigger, after clik on the back button bigger chat window returns to split view...
