I am curious to hear your thoughts on the iPhone 6 being able to function well over the next two years. Given the fact we only have 1gb of RAM, do you think the 6 is going to get the slow death treatment with ios10? Do you think ios9.3.1 is the last version we will get that will run smooth?

I think you'll be perfectly fine over the next two years. I know people still working just fine with an iPhone 5. The good thing about Apple products is they do hold up well over time. I'd imagine 3 to 4 years would be a safe amount of time to hold onto an iPhone before it starts showing its age. And the 6 is a very capable device that isn't much less capable than the 6s, imo.

I'm expecting another two years from my iPhone 6. It's been well over a year and a half and performance wise my iPhone is still as zippy as it was on day one. I have absolutely no qualms regarding performance. I only wish it had the design of the 5S. Anyhow, I know people who are still quite happy with their 4S.

I agree with others. You're iPhone 6 should be good for another year or so. I have the 6 plus and I have found it stuttering a lot more especially during transitions between apps like iMovie then to numbers spreadsheet or whatnot

For me I'm likely going to upgrade to the iPhone 7, but depends on what all is new besides the new lightening headphone jack 🙄

Welcome to iMore!

The 6 will be good for at least a few more years. The 5s is still supported. Heck my wife has a 5 and it is even supported and runs 9.3.1 just fine. There is a definite future for the 6.

These 64 bit devices are going to relevant much longer than previous devices. My iPhone 5 doesn't have any trouble with v9.3.1 right now.
