iPhone 5S rings when I receive email. Is this a sound settings problem?

Hi,

I just got my iPhne 5 today, through work...I have gone into settings and set my sound for emails, texts etc, but something has happened and my phone will only "ring" when i receive a new email. I have tried to select a new sound, it shows the new sound is chosen, but the phone still "rings" like the old telephone setting. Would there be a setting that is overriding the "Sounds" settings? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Go to Settings - Notification Center - Mail - {your mail account} - Alert Sound and make sure it is set appropriately, if you haven't already.
